This week our varsity competed in the premier dual tournament in the state known as the Flatwater Fracas. This tournament consisted of 21 teams from Nebraska/Kansas with our varsity coming in 11th place. On Friday we lost a close dual to Beatrice 45-31.
Then defeated Manhattan, KS 51-26, Papillion La-Vista South 60-15 before falling to Blair 56-20. On Saturday we started the day defeated Fairbury 72-9 and then fell to Lincoln East 44-27 in our final dual of pool play. In the "Platinum Bracket" we defeated Lincoln Southwest 42-27 and then fell to Waverly by 1 point losing 34-33. This was a great chance for our team to see top competition prior to the new year.
Our JV competed at the Axtell Invite on Tuesday. We sent two JV teams with our JV1s coming in 2nd place and our JV2s coming in 3rd. Finally, our reserves traveled to Ravenna on Friday where we had seven champs crowned.
Week 3 Wrestlers of the Week:
Varsity - Nick Sutton went 7-0 at the Flatwater Fracas this weekend, adding six pins in the meantime. Nick found bonus points in some close duals throughout the weekend that were huge for our team. Nick is currently tied for second on the team with 10 pins going into break.
JV - Landon Clarke went 3-0 on Tuesday at the Axtell Invite, beating a previous Class D state qualifier in the finals match. Landon is off to a great start this season, carrying an 11-1 record into break.
Reserve - Trinity Nagatani went 2-0 on Friday in Ravenna, winning by fall in both bouts. Trinity is one of the hardest workers in the practice room and it paid off in a big way on Friday.
